Two Mahans and the Abolitionist Movement

On Monday, May 9th at 7:15 p.m., John B. Elder, from Kendal at Oberlin, will be presenting a program entitled "Two Mahans and the Abolitionist Movement." The two Mahans in the title refer to ancestors of John Elder, former pastor of Oberlin's UCC Church. John Elder's presentation will focus on the leadership role in the early and mid-1800s of his great-great-great-grandfather, John Bennington Mahan, in the Abolition Movement and the Underground Railroad that linked Kentucky to Canada.

The program will take place in the Amelia Room at Kendal at Granville at 7:15. The presentation is sponsored by the Kendal at Granville Genealogical Group. This is a special invitation of all members of the Granville Historical Society.
